Harmony gets framed for murder by
an envious co-worker, while Spike, corporeal
again, tells the Fang Gang he is heading for
Europe, to look for Buffy.
In the end, Harm manages to prove
her innocence and Spike, still in Los Angeles,
explains to her he has given up Europe because
he doesn't want his sacrifice (for Buffy and the
world) to have been in vain.

Angel is infected by Eve and has
terrible hallucinations, where he sees himself
as no worthy to be a Champion anymore.
Meanwhile, [Lindsey] introduces
himself to Spike (as Doyle), incentives him to
take Angels' place as the Champion of the people
and the soulled vampire saves his first damsel
in distress — giving her, afterwards, a piece of
his mind because de "bimbo" was walking alone,
with high hills, in a desert alley in the middle
of the night.
Anyway, Spike does accept his
fate as Hero, as well as the humble apartment
(in a basement) Lindsey arranges for him to
live.

Fang Gang and Spike (to Angel's
distress) have to deal with a crazy Slayer, Dana
— awoken by Willow's spell (Buffy/Chosen)
— who is killing in Los Angeles, after escaping
from a mental institution. To help them (and
retrieve the Slayer) arrives [Andrew], who gets very
excited when he finds out that Spike is alive
and well.
Things go a little hard on Spike,
who has his hands cut off by Dana, because the
girl confuses him with the man who killed her
parents and tortured her when she was a child.
Fortunately, Angel arrives in time when she is
about to dust him, and he is taken to the
hospital, where his hands are reattached.
In the hospital bed, Spike has a
conversation with Angel, saying he had never
thought about Evil, he used to do all he did
just for fun, and he can't complain about what
Dana has just done to him — he was innocent
about her family and her, but he did kill
hundreds of other families.

Cordelia awakes from her coma
after having a vision where Angel is in
trouble. She doesn't like to know Angel is now
the CEO for Wolfram & Hart, but the vampire
explains to her he accepted to run the place in
exchange for a new life for Connor and medical
treatment for her.
Meanwhile, Spike is in his
apartment, recovering from the surgery — playing
video game, that is. Doyle/Lindsey drops by, but
before they can talk, he gets a call from Eve
saying that Cordy has returned and will end up
making Angel find out about him.
Next, Spike is at Wolfram &
Hart biting Cordelia, and is knocked down by
Angel, who wants to know why he has attacked
her; Spike explains his "source" said that Cordy
is a demon, and evil, and he just wanted to
taste her. The three of them talk, and Doyle's
true identity ends up in the open.
Lindsey, with his body covered
with runes (tattoos), manages to enter Wolfram
& Hart and tries to start a fail safe built
by the Senior Partners in order to destroy Angel
just in case, but Spike, Angel and Cordy
succeeds in stopping him, and Lindsey is sent,
through a portal, to a unknown place.
In the end, Angel learns that
Cordelia never woke up — actually, she is dead.
She only took corporeal form as a favor from the
Powers That Be, to help Angel and show him he
still is a Champion.
